Metalogix Software

Metalogix was born in 2001, out of Mindquake Software, a first-generation internet software consultancy. We initially focussed on advanced screen scraping and data analysis tools - pulling data off websites and converting to structured formats - database and XML. Microsoft was our primary customer along with a handful of large Microsoft customers.

In 2003 we shifted our focus to building migration tools for Microsoft Content Management Server and SharePoint. Our primary go-to-market was direct sales and inbound via SEO. We had enormous mindshare with Microsoft’s technical sales team who carried us into every account that had migration questions. Our sales scaled with SharePoint’s growth which was epic. Microsoft adopted a freemium approach with SharePoint and it was very effective. By 2006 we had well established set of migration and management tools and had added Google Adsense as a primary driver of customer acquisition.

In 2008 we closed a round with Bessemer and Insight Venture Partners, scaled a US sales team and merged with a European-based ISV focussed on a similar tool stack for Exchange.

We reached 10m topline in 2010 and began a rollup of other SharePoint ISVs reaching 70m in topline in 2014. Permira acquired Metalogix in 2014 and it sold to Quest Software soon after.
